In September 2004, the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy released State of Philanthropy 2004, a collection of analyses on the accomplishments and shortcomings of the grantmaking field. According to NCRP director Rick Cohen, the collection "contains an all-star line-up of nonprofit and foundation activists calling out foundations and other philanthropic institutions on how they can better support the nonprofit sector so it can fulfill its promise of promoting and advocating for social change in this nation." Bradley Center Director William Schambra's essay was featured in the section labled "Politics of Philanthropy."
